Hello learners!
Welcome to the 22nd day of the series 30 Days of PM by Crework! So, we are in the last 10 days, and we are practicing some of the most common questions asked in PM interviews. I will try to give you the approach of how to solve them, but you will have to solve them yourself.
But before we start, make sure you are subscribed to us. In case you are not, subscribe to us right now and complete the challenge.
Tell me about a time you made a mistake.
A very good behavioral question asked in PM interviews is this - “Tell me about a time you made a mistake.”
Now, how would you answer this question. I will give you a hint, and then you will solve it for me.
This question aims to understand candidate's character, problem-solving skills, and ability to thrive in challenging situations. Here's how you can approach answering it:
Choose a Relevant Example: Select a specific example from your past experiences that is relevant to the position you're applying for. Ideally, choose a mistake that occurred in a professional setting, but if necessary, you can draw from personal experiences as well.
Provide Context: Start by briefly setting the scene and providing context for the mistake. Describe the situation, your role, and any relevant background information that will help the interviewer understand the context of the mistake.
Describe the Mistake: Clearly explain the mistake you made without making excuses or downplaying its significance. Take responsibility for your actions and avoid placing blame on others or external factors.
Discuss Your Response: Outline the steps you took to address the mistake once you became aware of it. This could include admitting fault, apologizing to those affected, and taking immediate action to rectify the situation.
Highlight Lessons Learned: Reflect on what you learned from the experience and how it has influenced your behavior or decision-making moving forward. Discuss any insights gained, skills developed, or changes implemented as a result of the mistake.
Emphasize Growth: Conclude your response on a positive note by emphasizing how the mistake ultimately contributed to your personal or professional growth. Highlight any positive outcomes or improvements that resulted from the experience.
Practice Authenticity: Be honest and authentic in your response, avoiding generic or overly rehearsed answers. Interviewers appreciate genuine responses that demonstrate self-awareness, accountability, and a willingness to learn from mistakes.
Now, think a bit about this, come up with an answer and send it to us as a reply to this mail or add it to Twitter or LinkedIn and tag Crework!
If all of you share it, you will get to see the answers and perspectives of a lot of people that might teach you something new.
