What’s your favorite product?
One of the most common question asked in PM interviews is this - “What is your favorite product and why? How would you improve it?”
Now, how would you answer this question. I will give you a hint, and then you will solve it for me.
This question aims to understand your product preferences, your analytical thinking about products, and your ability to identify areas for improvement. Here's how you can approach answering it:
Choose a Relevant Product: You can select a product that aligns with the company or industry you're interviewing for, but it’s not a necessity. But make sure it's a product you genuinely admire and have experience using.
Share Your Reasons: Explain why the chosen product is your favorite. Highlight its features, usability, design, or impact it has had on your life or work. Be authentic and enthusiastic in your response.
Identify Areas for Improvement: Discuss potential improvements or new features you would like to see in the product. Base your suggestions on user feedback, market trends, or personal pain points you've encountered while using the product.
Propose Solutions: Offer actionable suggestions for addressing the identified areas of improvement. Consider how these enhancements could enhance the user experience, add value to the product, or differentiate it from competitors.
